How to simplify your business and life

Like many of you, my road to building an online business has had its share of hard lessons. There are only so many hours in a day, and chances are if you’re new to the entrepreneur world/mum-working-life, you’re wearing a lot of different hats, trying to keep up with multiple tasks and being present with your loved ones at the same time.

While I don’t claim to know it all, I’d like to share 3 ways to help you simplify your working mum life.

  1. Eliminate distractions right away. Many small business owners work from home -- which is a perk but it can also cause distractions. We can wander around, turn on our TV, or stay in bed not feeling like doing anything. At Avani + Co, I do my best to eliminate distractions right away, to set the tone for a productive work day even if I’m just working in our home office. In doing so, I’m more likely to be more efficient and focus wholeheartedly on my work.
  2. Write down 3 important must-dos in the morning. As a mum, my time for work is very limited. Because of that, I need to prioritize my to-do list so I know what to focus on and work on things that truly move the needles forward for my business. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by our never-ending to-do list because again we’re wearing a lot of hats. My advice? Find a project management system and organize all your to-dos in one place. This will give you more brain space and know exactly what tasks you need to tackle first.
  3. Last but not least, ask for help. Here’s the thing: you don’t have to do it all. In order to successfully simplify your work and life, you have to eliminate things that don’t matter. What are you truly good at and passionate about? Can you outsource some smaller tasks to an assistant? Or can you hire a marketing expert so you have more time creating products?

These three tips help us simplify work and life as a mum and be more efficient and productive each and every day! Of course, there are many more practices and habits we recommend, but these are a great foundation!
